Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas NLNG Marks 35 Years Of Outstanding Feat.

The Nigerian liquefied natural gas is one of world’s top suppliers of LNG, incorporated as a limited liability company on May 17th, 1989, the company was established primarily to harness Nigeria’s vast natural gas resources and produce LNG and natural gas liquids for exports.

With a total production capacity of 22million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG and 5million tons per annum of natural gas liquids from it’s current seven train plant complex, the Nigerian liquefied natural gas company was established and backed by the Nigerian LNG fiscal incentives, guaranties and assurances act, cap N87, laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.

In thirty five years of it’s operations in Nigeria, the Nigeria LNG has continued to impact on society through it’s robust CSR structure which has seen the company intervening through support for the advancement of the education sector in Nigeria.

In 2014, the Nigeria LNG launched it’s university support program, leading to the building of modern engineering laboratories in six different universities in each of the six geo political zones, university of Ibadan, university of Ilorin, University of Maiduguri, Ahmadu Bello university, university of Nigeria, and the university of port harcourt benefitted from the gesture provided by the Nigeria LNG.

Women journalists have also been touched by the benevolence of the Nigeria LNG through capacity building programs where beneficiaries of the women journalists were trained in areas of digital communications skills.

Aside interventions in the education sector, and other areas of capacity developments, the Nigeria LNG for instance has also taken it’s CSR commitment to the heath sector where it helped renovated the accident and emergency units at the University of uyo at some point.

Within the last thirty five years of it’s existence, the Nigeria LNG has grown in status to become a reliable supplier of LNG in the Atlantic basin, serving the European Union, South American, Middle East and Far East markets including twenty long term sale and purchase agreements amongst other areas of growth interest.

The Nigeria LNG has continued to make strong impacts on domestic gas utilisation and penetration particularly in rural communities, with statistics indicating that about 40% of LPG is supplied by Nigeria LNG.

In it’s continued quest to meet domestic gas demands, the company in 2021 delivered it’s first domestic propane cargo as parts of the company’s drive to support the Nigerian government’s decade of Gas initiative.

It is of interest to note that the Nigeria LNG has continued to commit to transparency and accountability, a commitment that has seen the company paying dividends to it’s shareholders totalling over 40billion dollars .

Although there are various risks associated with different parts of LNG supply chain, one of which is the lack of commitment by some liquefied natural gas companies elsewhere across the world, to comply with environmental regulations in the production value chain due to impact of gas exploration, the Nigeria LNG on it’s part has continued to demonstrate commitment to operating within the scope to limit environmental hazards during processes leading to gas exploration, a development that has seen the company build a well defined marketing strategy since 1999 when the first cargo of liquefied natural gas was loaded for delivery to montoir terminal in france.

Despite faced with challenges of under utilisation due to insufficient supplies of feedstock gas based on previous reports which indicated that in 2022 the Nigeria LNG operated at 65% capacity, the Nigeria LNG has continued to maintain it’s reputation as a reliable, responsible, and trusted supplier of LNG and natural gas liquids globally.

The company’s annual price for literature stands it out from others as a company that believes in building literary minds that could potentially help shape the vision of future generations for a better and brighter tomorrow.
