Nigerian Government Reiterates Commitment To Clean And Affordable Renewable Energy

The Nigerian government has given insight to it’s readiness to enter further dialogue, and other forms of collaborations with critical stakeholders in the energy sector across the globe, with a view to achieving sustainable development for the nation’s energy sector, with particular emphasis on modalities to achieving clean and affordable renewable energy for citizens.

Nigeria’s minister of power, Bayo Adelabu, gave the disclosure at the ongoing korean-african economic cooperation ministerial conference 2023 holding in Busan, South Korea.

The conference tagged, “Just energy transition and agricultural transformation in Africa”, according to the minister seeks to build capacity needed to facilitate cooperation, partnership between South Korea and African countries aimed at finding ways to address key energy challenges between the collaborating countries.

The minister while giving further breakdown of specific areas where Nigeria could tap some benefits from the conference, noted that the country stands to benefit in areas of energy security, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, including areas of sustainable development using energy as a drive.

The minister of power also disclosed that the conference opens investments opportunities for Nigeria particularly as it concerns the energy sector among other areas of mutual benefits.

With the increasing global focus on mitigating climate change, the conference according to stakeholders provides a platform for discussions on clean energy transition, while also seeking ways for African countries to explore the advanced technologies of their South Korean counterpart in developing local capacity for the continent’s energy sector.
