Rivers, Bayelsa in Darkness As Vandals Hit Four Transmission Towers In Nigeria’s South-South Region.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported another devastating incident of vandalism, resulting in the collapse of four transmission towers along the Owerri-Ahoada 132kV Double Circuit line.
The affected towers, T171 to T174, were compromised and collapsed at approximately 6:23 pm on two days ago, disrupting power supply to several areas in Rivers and Bayelsa States.
The incident which had devastating impact on the power supply to the Ahoda, Gbarain, and Yenagoa 132kV transmission substations, impacted thousands of households and businesses.
TCN condemned the act of vandalism, emphasizing the need for host communities to join forces with the company to combat the menace.
General Manager, Public Affairs of the transmission company, Ndidi Mbah, appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities around power infrastructure to the relevant authorities.
A team of engineers, led by Engr. Emmanuel Apka, General Manager of the Port Harcourt Region, have been dispatched to the site to assess the damage and initiate repair work.
TCN says it is working to restore bulk power supply to the affected states as quickly as possible.
