The deport and petroleum product marketers association of Nigeria has described the allegations of the importation of dirty fuels into Nigeria by the management of the Dangote industries limited as baseless.

While also describing the statement by the Dangote group to the effect that the Nigerian midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority has been granting licenses indiscriminately to it’s members to import dirty fuels into the country in a press statement released Tuesday noted that no private marketer in Nigeria has imported products outside the prescribed specifications by the NMDPRA and called on the public to disregard the claims by the Dangote group.

The press statement while reassuring citizens of Dappman’s commitment to quality fuels within the Nigerian downstream petroleum sector noted that the body will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders including the Dangote industries limited to ensure smooth running of a deregulated downstream sector in compliance to the provision of the petroleum industry act which discourages monopoly.

The Dangote industries limited owners of the Dangote refinery had over the weekend raised alarm on the importation of dirty fuels into the country including a disclosure that international oil companies operating in the country are making moves to undermine it’s own refinery in it’s quest to refine crude oil products in-country.
