Eko Electricity Distribution Company Clarifies Disconnection Of University Of Lagos From Grid.

Authority at the University of Lagos has reported the disconnection of it’s entire campus by the eko electricity distribution company despite paying outstanding debt of 180million naira to the company.

In a statement released and signed by the head of communication unit of the university adejoke-ibrahim alaga titled, “Important notice : power outage on campus”, stated that the distribution company has gone ahead to disconnect the University after engaging the management of the eko electricity distribution company to find common grounds of working out the differences between the University and the company.

The statement further noted that the management of the university had previously engaged the distribution company on the need to return the University to band B to avert the huge electricity bill following the astronomical increase in bill when the University was unilaterally moved to band A by the distribution company months back.

The statement called for calm amongst members of the university community following the development which has now thrown the entire university into total darkness pending when all issues would be resolved .

In it’s reaction to the disconnection of the university of Lagos from the grid, the eko electricity distribution company in a press statement released to the public noted that the disconnection of the university was borne out failed efforts to get the University to pay the total sums of it’s outstanding electricity bill which currently stands at one billion naira from which only a meagre sum of 180million naira was paid by the University.

While appealing to the University of Lagos community for understanding, the distribution company noted that the disconnection has become imperative to save the company from losses, the statement however noted, that the distribution company will continue to work to serve the interest of all it’s customers across board.
