The Nigerian content development monitoring board 2025 practical Nigerian content forum has opened in yenegoa, the bayelsa state capital, south-south Nigeria on december, 1st, 2025.
In his opening address at the event, Nigeria’s minister of state, petroleum resources, Oil, Heineken Lokpobiri said the forum’s theme for the year 2025, “Securing investments, strengthening local content and scaling energy production” couldn’t have come at a much better time than now, noting that, the theme captures the core pillars required to anchor Nigeria’s energy future, enhance global competitiveness, and strengthening resilience.
Heineken Lokpobiri said Nigeria’s energy landscape has greatly improved given the current state of enhanced regulatory stability across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments. The minister who described the passage of the petroleum industry act, PIA, as one of the greatest achievements in the sector said the act has helped in defining the turning point that has restored policy clarity, and reinforcing Nigeria’s readiness for doing business across the various energysector value chain.
In his concluding remarks the minister underscored the urgent need to ramp up crude oil production, declaring that the emergence of significant new investments have helped redirect narratives around the energy transition debate.
On his part, minister of state petroleum resources, gas, ekperikpe ekpo, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to securing investments, strengthening local content capabilities. The minister also disclosed ongoing efforts by the federal government in deepening the CNG policy, with a declaration that the country’s abundant gas resources will be effectively explored in the overall interest of citizens.
In his own opening address at the ceremony, executive secretary, NCDMB, engineer felix omatsola ogbe while welcoming guests noted that the forum which is an annual event by the board is one that has been carefully designed to set agenda for advancing the conversation on building local capacity in the Nigerian energy sector landscape.
While highlighting some of the milestones of the board in the last years, engineer omatsola ogbe noted that a whopping sum of 100million U.S dollars equity investment scheme has been launched in partnership with the bank of industry, BOI, to support high growth Indegenous energy services companies.
The executive secretary in his remarks also touched on the NCDF compliance certificate which he said is a new instrument in place to confirm adherence to the 1% NCDF remittance, a new development he said is expected to take effect by 1st of January, 2026.
While disclosing that over 94 disbursements have been made so far in 2025 to strengthen community participation, engineer omatsola ogbe said new set of project 100 companies under the project 100 strategy would soon be onboarded. While giving further updates on other key projects by the board, the executive secretary said these other major projects which include bonga north, NLNG train 7, ubeta gas, and several others are currently under monitoring by the local content board, declaring that the back-to-creek stem education in rural Niger delta communities through modern ICT, science and innovation hubs is also underway.
