Governor of enugu state Peter Mbah has signed into law, the enugu state electricity bill.
Governor Mbah who signed the new law on Friday, said the decision was based on his administration’s goal to grow the state’s economy from it’s present status of 4.4 billion dollars to about 30 billion dollars.
The governor while acknowledging the fact that growing the economy can not be achieved without a stable power supply said the new electricity law will help ensure that the state has it’s own electricity market, to fast track the development of critical areas such as generation, transmission, and distribution, a combination the governor noted is required to drive private sector investment.
Governor Peter Mbah further noted that with the new electricity law in place and given that electricity is now on the concurrent list, the law will enable the state play in all the value chains of the electricity industry.
