Namibia oil and gas conference opens tuesday,18th, with 129 speakers set to discuss new investment opportunities

Stakeholders across the entire oil and gas value chain are now set to converge in Namibia from August 18-20 to discuss new investments and set policy agenda including ways to reposition the sector for growth not just at the Africa continental level but across the globe, just as the gathering is also set to build robust partnerships among industry players from the continent.

A Special Report by the African Association of Energy Journalists and Publishers, AJERAP, released over the weekend places Namibia as one of the most promising emerging oil and gas investment destinations, given the country’s huge abundant mineral resources estimated at 11 billion barrels of oil and 2.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves , a development the AJERAP report said is already attracting growing interest from international oil companies, investors and energy service providers.
“Against this backdrop, global investors, energy companies, policymakers, regulators and industry experts are expected to converge in Namibia from August 18-20 for the Namibia oil and gas conference” the report disclosed.

Organisers of the 2026 conference according to the AJERAP report said the conference would examine investment opportunities, local content development, financing, including infrastructure and the wider impact of oil and gas development, one other major objective the report also disclosed is to ensure that oil and gas investments do not only create isolated production enclaves but also to contribute to an integrated industrial base strong backward and forward linkages with the wider economy.

The conference which is expected to attract about 129 speakers, will provide the platform for the host country to tell their story as Namibia’s vice president, Lucia witbooi is expected to lead other cabinet members which will include minister of industry, mines and energy, Modeste Amutse, minister of justice and Labour relations, Philemon wise Emmanuel, and other senior government officials to the coming event which is also expected to have Felix Omatsola Ogbe, executive secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board NCDMB, Philip Mshelbila, Secretary general, Gas exporting countries forum and other leading speakers in attendance.

The African association of energy journalists and publishers, AJERAP, a critical media partner in the coming conference said the association comprising energy journalists from the 54 African countries will be providing coverage of developments from the conference to audiences across the continent and beyond.”For investors and industry players, the August gathering is expected to provide an important platform to assess Namibia’s petroleum potential, investment environment and the opportunities emerging across it’s oil and gas value chain”

The conference is officially endorsed by Namibia’s ministry of industries, mines and energy and hosted by the economic association of Namibia, NIPDB and Hanns Seidel Foundation.
