The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has renewed its drive to attract more businesses, industries and commercial operators to its Eligible Customer Programme, offering qualifying customers access to dedicated electricity supply under mutually agreed commercial arrangements.

The initiative was highlighted during the company’s Customer Service Week celebration which began on Monday, where NDPHC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relationships with existing customers while encouraging more eligible businesses to take advantage of its dedicated power supply offering.

NDPHC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, expressed appreciation to existing customers for their confidence in the programme and urged more businesses to join the initiative.
“To our existing customers, thank you for your trust. To businesses yet to join, power your growth with NDPHC’s Eligible Customer Programme, which offers dedicated power supply and mutually agreed commercial terms,” Adighije said.

The Eligible Customer Programme is designed to provide qualifying electricity consumers with a more direct and commercially structured supply arrangement, enabling businesses to access electricity solutions aligned with their operational requirements.

The programme is particularly relevant to manufacturers, industrial concerns and large commercial enterprises whose operations depend on reliable and predictable electricity supply.

NDPHC currently has a substantial generation portfolio comprising 10 power plants with 28 gas turbines and three steam turbines, with an installed generation capacity of approximately 4,000MW.
The company said the portfolio provides a strong platform for supporting large electricity consumers while helping to bridge the gap between available generation capacity and the growing demand for dependable electricity from the productive sector.

Delivering the official opening address at the Customer Service Week programme, NDPHC Executive Director, Strategy & Commercial, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, stressed the importance of a customer-focused culture in delivering value and strengthening relationships with stakeholders.

The event was attended by members of NDPHC’s Executive Management Team, including Engr. Abdullahi Kassim, Executive Director, Generation; Dr. Steven Andzenge, Executive Director, Legal Services and Company Secretary; and Engr. Bello Babayo Bello, Executive Director, Networks, alongside General Managers, Heads of Departments and other staff.

The company said Customer Service Week should serve as a reminder that exceptional customer service must go beyond a one-week celebration, describing it as an everyday responsibility essential to building trust, retaining customers and delivering sustainable value.

NDPHC has also intensified efforts to recover dormant generation capacity, rehabilitate underperforming facilities and improve the operational availability of its generation fleet.
A significant development was the recent restoration of the 450MW Alaoji Open Cycle Power Plant in Abia State, which had been shut down in 2023 amid gas supply and metering disputes.
The return of the plant to service represents another step in NDPHC’s efforts to recover stranded generation capacity and increase the contribution of existing assets to national electricity supply.
For businesses, NDPHC said, the challenge extends beyond generation capacity, as manufacturers and commercial operators require electricity that is reliable and commercially predictable to support production planning, cost management and investment decisions.
The company believes its Eligible Customer Programme can help address this challenge by establishing stronger commercial linkages between generation assets and productive-sector consumers.
According to NDPHC, structured electricity supply arrangements can help eligible customers improve production planning, reduce dependence on alternative sources of power, minimise operational uncertainty and create greater room for business expansion.
Adighije said NDPHC remained committed to strengthening the infrastructure and commercial relationships required to improve electricity supply to homes, businesses and industries.
“At NDPHC, we remain committed to powering the nation’s progress by strengthening the infrastructure that delivers electricity to homes, businesses and industry,” she said.
