The Nigerian electricity regulatory commission has disclosed the issuance of May 2024 tarrif order to eleven electricity distribution companies across Nigeria .
In a press statement released Monday, the regulatory body noted that, pursuant to the tariff methodology adopted by it , a revised tariff order covering the month of May 2024 was issued by the Commission to the eleven companies.
Giving further details behind the latest revised tarrif order, the Commission noted, that, amongst other factors, it considered changes in the macroeconomic parameters over the preceding month of April 2024 given the appreciation of exchange rates, which it says, consequently drove the regulatory body to approve a downward review of end-user tariffs for Band “A” customers from NGN225/kWh to NGN206.8/kWh.
The commission in the press statement further reaffirmed its commitment to providing a balanced and effective regulatory regime, that serves the needs of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
