NMDPRA Shared Perspectives At OTL Africa 2025.

The 19th OTL Africa Energy Week may have officially come to a close this friday, October, 31st, but the perspectives shared by industry stakeholders would continue to shape downstream policies in the months to come.

in the cause of the energy week during one of the panel discussions, senior executives of the Nigerian midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority actively contributed to different panel discussions specifically designed to shaping the future of the downstream energy sector.

The Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, Mr. Ogbugo Ukoha for instance spoke on a panel titled “Fleets, Fluctuations and Forecourt Efficiency,” where he discussed importance of regulatory frameworks that promote transparency, safety, and sustainability in downstream distribution systems to ensure  that market players adapt effectively to changing energy demand.

The Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community, Dr. Mustapha lamorde who participated  virtually in one other  session titled “Energy Optimisation, Transition and Sustainability (Gas and Renewables).” highlighted the role of gas and renewables in Africa’s energy transition, emphasizing environmental responsibility, safety, and community engagement.

On her part, the executive director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning, Prof. Zainab Gobir, joined a high-level panel on “Next Generation Solutions: Leveraging Technology and Innovation in the Downstream Value Chain.” where she underscored the importance of digital transformation, innovation, and regulatory adaptability in driving competitiveness and growth across the sector.

Together, their contributions reflected the Authority’s leadership in promoting efficiency, sustainability, and innovation within the African downstream energy landscape
