WAPCo Graduates Young Entrepreneurs In Various Acquisition Skills In Ogun.

The west african gas pipeline company, WAPCo has graduated young entrepreneurs in various acquisition skills for youths in ogun state.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony for the young entrepreneurs, general manager, corporate affairs, west african gas pipeline company, WAPCo, Isaac Doku said the livelihood program of the gas company is a corporate social responsibility strategy to give back to host communities where the company’s pipeline runs through across four countries within the west african sub-region.
Doku who disclosed that Nigeria provides the longest route of about 56KM to its pipeline onshore said the gas company recognises the role of host communities in ensuring the safety of its pipelines. Doku further noted that the idea to give back to host communities is in fulfilment of the west african gas pipeline company’s recognition of the United nations sustainable development goals agenda which focuses on human capacity development.
“In fulfilling our bit of the united nations sustainable development goals, we believe that we have to put something back into the community, because, they give us the land, they give us everything that we need to do to be able to operate successfully” he noted
As follow-up to monitor the progress of the students performance after their graduation, the corporate affairs manager who noted that WAPCo is already working on plans to do a documentary of it’s graduands to document the impact of the acquisition skill training, said the west african gas pipeline company spends roughly 750,000 US dollars annually in the last ten years to train young entrepreneurs across Nigeria, togo, benin Republic, and Ghana.
Earlier, Chairman of Ado-odo ota local government area, lawal adewale wasiu in his remarks at the graduation ceremony applauded the efforts of WAPCo’s management in developing capacity for youths within the company’s host communities. Wasiu while calling on the graduands to take advantage of the lessons learnt in the last nine months urged the young entrepreneurs to share their knowledge with others within their communities who were not privileged of the opportunity provided by WAPCo.
The local government Chairman while disclosing that WAPCo’s acquisition training program aligns with the state government drive for capacity development for youths said the local government remains open to partnering the west african gas pipeline company in the coming years.
