Compressed Natural Gas Powered Vehicles Now Mandatory For Use By All Government Agencies In Nigeria… Presidency

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has directed the procurement of compressed-natural-gas-powered vehicles for use by all government ministries, departments, and agencies.
Addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House on the directive, President Tinubu affirmed that the directive was informed by the ongoing reforms initiated by his administration specifically targeting the energy sector .
special adviser to the president on media and publicity Ajuri Ngelale stated that
the President’s directive is also in furtherance of Nigeria’s effort to transit to a much more cleaner energy as CNG-enabled vehicles have been reported to produce lower emissions, even as they present a more affordable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.
The President further directed that going forward all memos initiated for the purpose of buying petroleum dependant powered vehicles should not be honoured by the relevant approving authorities, as a mark of his administration’s seriousness on ensuring only compressed natural gas powered vehicles are in the pool of agencies transport departments.
