Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Gombe State Governor, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, Engr. Akinwole Omoboriowo II, are among prominent dignitaries to be honoured at this year’s ENERGY TIMES Award, scheduled to hold at Radisson Blu, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, April 17, 2026.
Corporate organisations such as PANA Holdings; Momas Group and Egbin Power Limited will also be honoured as Local Content Company of the Year; Innovative /Technology Leadership and Electricity Company of the Year, respectively. Dr. Joy Ogaji will be conferred with the Amazon of the Nigerian Power Sector Award for her remarkable contributions to the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
Adelabu, who will lead stakeholders in the NESI to the occasion, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour just as
Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State will be honoured as Energy Governor of the Year for his outstanding rural and urban energy infrastructure development initiatives in the state.
Tony Attah, Managing Director of Renaissance Africa Energy Company, will receive the CEO of the Year Award, while Akinwole Omoboriowo II, Chairman of Genesis Energy, will be honoured as Man of the Year (Africa).
Dr. Diran Fawibe, Chairman of International Energy Services, will receive the Oil Sector Icon of the Year Award, with Engr. Kola Balogun, Chairman of MOMAS Group, is scheduled to be honoured for his innovative technology leadership, particularly the development of a €3 million MOMAS Technical Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) Centre for Electro-Technology in Ogun State.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Biodun Ogunleye, is also expected as a Special Guest of Honour and a recipient of the Excellence Award.
Other recipients of Excellence Awards include Engr. Aliyu Abubakar, Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager, Corporate Communications, NCMDB, and Kennie Obateru, former Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, NNPC Limited.

.CEO of the Year (Power Sector) – Rekiat Momoh, former MD/CEO, Eko Electricity Distribution Company
.Energy Company CSR Excellence Award – Seplat Energy Plc
.Outstanding Oil & Gas Personality of the Year – Osayande Igiehon, CEO, Heirs Energies
.Strategic Energy Investor of the Year – Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman, Sifax Group
.Union Leader of the Year – Comrade Williams Akporeha, President, NUPENG
.Power Sector Personality of the Year – Engr. Jennifer Adighije, MD/CEO, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC)
.Government Agency of the Year – National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI)
The awardees according to a press statement by energy times were carefully selected based on their outstanding contributions to the energy sector and their positive impact on the economy and the lives of Nigerians particularly during the outgone year 2025.
The statement signed by the newspaper’s Editorial Board Chairman, Yakubu Lawal, a team of industry experts was constituted as a body of advisers to strengthen the content and credibility of the award.
Lawal explained that the 2026 edition of the ENERGY TIMES Award is designed to appreciate and recognise individuals and organisations whose work continues to transform the energy landscape and improve lives across the country.
ENERGY TIMES started as a weekly newspaper and is now a bi-weekly publication based in Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub. It was established in March 2017 to fill the gap in in-depth energy news analysis and reportage in Nigeria.
