Former staff of kaduna electric have staged peaceful protest over non-payment of their entitlements after being disengaged from service by the electricity distribution company.

The aggrieved former staff who staged the protest in kaduna north-west Nigeria on tuesday alleged that the distribution company rescinded on earlier agreement to pay all entitlements after being disengaged from service.

The former staff of kaduna electric said the distribution company has refused to clear all entitlements despite receiving bailouts from the federal government for the purpose of clearing all outstanding gratuities owed former staff.

The protesting former staff who questioned why the electricity distribution company would continue to employ new workers amidst claims of financial incapacity declared that they would continue their protest until all entitlements are implemented.

In february this year governor uba sani had previously intervened following electricity workers strike that plunged five states into darkness in northern Nigeria. The state government and kaduna electric are yet to react to the latest crisis as at the time of this publication.
