The NNPC Limited on Sunday issued a press statement giving updates on the gas explosion which occurred on the escravos-lagos gas pipeline in delta state on thursday, 11th of december, 2025.
The press statement coming 96 hours after the incident noted that coordinated containment measures have been taken and successfully executed to ensure the safety of host communities, personnel, and environment.
The NNPC Limited in the press statement also declared that all relevant pipeline sections have been safely secured and isolated. The statement further noted that a joint preliminary inspection involving the NNPC Limited, the Nigerian midstream and downstream petroleum regulatory authority, NMDPRA, technical teams and maintenance contractors has been conducted at the affected site.
The NNPC Limited in the statement said it’s gas infrastructure company, (NGIC), the operator of the network has activated its business continuity plan to manage the impact on all affected stakeholders, including shippers and suppliers.
“NNPC Limited continues to maintain open communication with host communities, state authorities, and other critical stakeholders and appreciates their sustained support and cooperation”. The company further declared that it remains committed to the safety of it’s host communities, the protection of the environment, and the reliability of it’s operations across all assets the press statement concluded.
