The Nigerian Upper Legislative Chamber Has Formally Inaugurated Standing Committees For The Various Ministries And Other Agencies Of Government As Part Of Preparedness To Commence It’s Oversight Functions Following The Inauguration Of The 10th National Assembly, By President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Nation’s Energy Sector Was not Left Out From The Newly Constituted Committees, With Senator Jarigbe Agon Jarigbe From Cross Rivers State Assuming The Chairmanship Of The Committee On Gas, With Jimoh Ibrahim From Ondo state As The Vice Chairman Of The Committee.
For The Upstream Petroleum Sector, Eteng Williams Also From Cross Rivers State, Takes The Chairmanship Position, While Mustapha Salihu From Kwara State , Assumes Position Of Vice Chairman.
Senator Agadaga Benson Sunday from Bayelsa State, Is New Chairman Of The Standing Committee On Oil And Host Communities, While Senator Mpigi Barinada Deputises As Vice Chairman.
The Over Sight Role for The Nation’s Power Sector In The 10th National Assembly, Will Be Coordinated Under The Chairmanship Of Senator Abaribe Enyinnaya from Abia State, With senator Ashiru Oyetola From Kwara State As Vice Chairman.
While Inaugurating The Standing Committees in The Red Chamber, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio tasked All The Newly Constituted Committees To Be Diligent In The Discharge Of Their Assigned Constitutional Responsibilities Driven By Transparency And Accountability.
