Dangote Refinery Clarifies Controversy Around Petroleum Pricing.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has denied a report published in BusinessDay Newspapers on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, claiming that NNPC has commenced lifting petrol from its refinery and selling it at N897 per liter.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, He says the report is misleading and does not reflect the true position of the matter.

Chiejina stated that NNPC has not started lifting refined Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, and therefore, the issue of fixing the price of petrol lifted from the refinery does not arise.

Chiejina emphasized that the PMS market is strictly regulated, and the company cannot determine, fix, or influence the product price, which falls under the purview of relevant government authorities.

The company assured the public of exceptionally high-quality petroleum products that will be readily available across the country once the contract with NNPC is finalized.

The statement urged the public to disregard the misleading headline and promised to keep stakeholders informed about developments in the matter.
