In a significant step towards addressing the skill gap in Nigeria’s power sector value chain, 72 trainees have successfully completed a three week Human Capital Development Training in Solar Panel Installation and Maintenance. The program, held in Lagos, was organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in collaboration with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN).
At the closing ceremony, key messages from the Director, Capacity Building, NCDMB were delivered by the Senior Monitoring Officer, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Mr. Ibrahim Sule
He commended NAPTIN for their partnership with the Board in facilitating the training program successfully. He further emphasized that the trainees newly acquired certification enhances their employability within the power sector value chain. He also enlightened beneficiaries that the competency gained provides a significant advantage over foreign counterparts in the same filled within the industry in line with the principles of Nigerian Content.
Trainees were equally reminded that this initiative is not only a training program but also an empowerment opportunity as they will be equipped with startup kits, uniforms, and safety gear to aid their transition into the workforce.
Earlier the Director General of NAPTIN Alhaji Bolaji Nagode, expressed gratitude to NCDMB for its steadfast commitment to human capital development, affirming that equipping individuals with practical and industry standard skills is crucial for economic growth and sustainability.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, emphasized the essence and benefits of collaboration between government agencies, as demonstrated by NCDMB and NAPTIN. He encouraged the trainees to utilize their skills and certifications effectively, assuring them that their potential is limitless.
