Niger Delta Activists Oppose Sale Of Shell’s Onshore Assests.

Environmental activists in the Niger Delta region wants the federal government to delay the approval of the sales of Shell Petroleum development company onshore facilities asset to indigenous oil firm, until the environmental degradation within the region is properly addressed.
Addressing a News Conference in Abuja on Tuesday, The activists under the center for peace and environmental Justice urged President Bola Tinubu to protect the sovereignty of Nigeria and take decisive action to rectify the long-standing injustices suffered by the Niger Delta oil and gas producing communities.
The activists told journalists that they will institute a suit restraining the sale of the assets involved , if the federal government fails to do the needful.
On the Ogoni Cleanup , The activists described the exercise as ‘political’, saying nothing much has been achieved since the public declaration under former president Mohammadu Buhari .
